Marketing for the Distracted (and Discerning)

There is a specific art to capturing the attention of a highly successful woman in the middle of summer.

She is busy. She is discerning. And right now, she is deeply distracted. Half of her mind is on her Q2 revenue targets, and the other half is on the flight she has to catch on Thursday. Her patience for fluff, hype, and generic marketing language is at an all-time low.

If your messaging relies on typical internet tricks—clickbait headlines, dramatic "hooks," or trendy slang—she is going to swipe right past you. She doesn’t have the bandwidth for it.

To reach a sophisticated client when her attention is divided, you have to operate in "if you know, you know" energy.

The Power of the Subtle Nudge

When an audience is distracted, the natural instinct for many marketers is to get louder. They use uppercase letters, exclamation points, and desperate, high-energy calls to action.

When your content is unmistakable and sharp, it cuts through the summer haze instantly. It doesn’t feel like marketing; it feels like an elegant observation. And that is exactly what makes a selective client lean in.
